I have Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), a debilitating disease that attacked my kidneys. Doctors have determined that a kidney transplant is my only hope for a long and healthy life. I need your help to make that happen.
I am a single mom to three beautiful teenagers, Joshua, Colton and Sarah. My kids are my greatest joy and I can’t imagine not being here to watch them mature into adulthood and have families of their own.
I have struggled with kidney problems ever since I was a child. I have always been a very independent and outgoing person, but my kidney disease forced me to go on Disability in 2009. Then, in August of 2015, my reality came to a halt when I was told that my kidneys had gotten so bad that I had to start dialysis. I chose to do home hemodialysis. Dialysis is a short term solution, but a transplant is what I truly need. Unfortunately, it’s very expensive to get a kidney transplant.
Funding this life saving procedure is a monumental task, as there will be many medical expenses not covered by insurance including high co-pays and lifelong anti-rejection medications. My hope is to find a live kidney donor and the money raised will also be able to help that person while they are out of work due to the surgery.
Your support is critical to the overall success of my health and to make sure that I get to meet my grandchildren someday. Please know that your contribution counts. On behalf of myself and my family, thank you in advance for your kind consideration.
Gratefully,
Belinda Turman
Hello,
Just wanted to keep everyone updated as a few things have changed.
I have been on dialysis for 3 years now and it has been a long and tiring road. There are so many things I must do to get ready for my Kidney Transplant. I have had quite a few surgeries to get to the point where I am able to receive a transplant, but I'm almost there.
Starting out I had 2 care takers, but that has changed now. One of my care takers had to get a job to help support her family and my other care taker is not able to help out as often due to health issues. Due to the circumstances, I now attend dialysis by myself most of the time. I have dialysis 4 days a week 3.5 hours a day. It is a lot to handle, but I am hopeful.
I have to go to the dentist to get some dental work done as it is crucial for my teeth to be in good health in order to receive my transplant. Dental work is not cheap and it is also not covered by my insurance. I will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and raffle to raise funds for my dental bills. Any donations are helpful and greatly appreciated.
Hello everyone. I'm still in need of kidney transplant. I shaved my hair off in May cause it thinned out so much. But it's coming back thicker. I have to have a stint put in my fistula so I can continue my dialysis 5 days a week. Still trying to put another fund raiser together. I will update when I have more in fund raiser.
Thank you
As of today I have lost 104 lbs. Still working on her to getting a fundraiser up and running.
Well on August 8, 2016 I had the Gastric Bypass. I have lost a total of 65 lbs. The transplant team is very pleased with my weight loss. I need $2,068 in or to be active on the list. I have to have a total of $4500 in order to be active on the list to cover my deductible.
Getting ready to have gastric bypass. So I can get ready for transplant.
Still trying to do fundraisers.
