Erin was diagnosed with a kidney disease in 2006. She had learned that her kidneys were functioning at a significantly lower level than they should. In 2011, her diagnosis had changed. Erin had Lupus Nephritis. Her body was literally attacking it’s own kidneys. In February of 2012, Erin had a stroke. This is when we learned that not only did Erin have lupus attacking her kidneys, but it was also attacking her vascular system. For 12 years, Erin’s health has been debilitating, and now it is at a critical point.
Erin has been put on the donor list for a new kidney. We suspect that a donor and close family member is a perfect match. As a result, Erin will hopefully be receiving a kidney transplant soon. For the first time in 12 years, Erin will be afforded the opportunity to live a relatively normal life. She will finally have the energy to go for walks, bike ride, and spend more time with friends and family.
There are few people who are more deserving of help than Erin. She absolutely thrives on helping others. She has spent her career working for a non-profit organization, helping at risk children receive education and resources that will allow them to lead full and healthy lives. In her personal life, she is a major support for her family and friends. She is fiercely protective of her loved ones, often seen putting them before herself. Even with the struggles of her health, she always wants to be the one to help others. Erin doesn’t like the attention on her. (As you can imagine, she is LOVING the fact that all of this is being publicly shared. Ha ha!) She focuses on the needs of others rather than be the one who needs help.
Now is the time we need to help Erin! Having this major surgery is going to cost her thousands of dollars. Think about how she has helped you in your life. She has cared for so many people around her; now is the time to give back. Please consider donating to help Erin through this difficult time.
Your donations will help Erin with all of the medical expenses that she will accrue as she begins this transplant journey.
If you would like how you can help more, please contact Katie Halpin at 513-312-4744 or Barb Cunningham at 513-748-7962.
