Power Wheelchair Fund

The importance of a power wheelchair at this point in my life cannot be over stated. At this point, I'm finding myself unable to cross the street in time before the light changes when using my manual wheelchair, making it very dangerous for me to leave the neighborhood on days when I am less ambulatory. A powered mobility device can help me maintain my independence while symptomatic, enable me to run errands independently, go longer distances, train my service dog for longer periods of time, walk my service dog more frequently, and help me to conserve energy so that I am physically able to take care of myself at home at the end of a long day. In addition to these necessary activities of daily living, it may enable me to begin exploring my passions again and possibly even attend classes.

I currently have a power wheelchair on layaway for 12 months (until June 5th, 2022) at a cost of $242 per month before it can be shipped. In addition to the base cost of this chair, I will also need additional components for my disability that are not able to be put on layaway and incur additional cost. Some of these additional parts are a headrest, a folding foot plate, and elevating leg rests.

The sooner I can pay off the power chair, the sooner it will be shipped so I can use it. And, if the cost of the elevating leg rests is able to be met prior to shipment, they can be installed at the factory before the chair is shipped to me. (Otherwise, I will have to send the chair back for installation.)
