Carlton Acklin, who is 50 years old, received a gift of a transplanted kidney that he had for nearly ten years until it failed in November 2013. On October 17, 2019, he received a second kidney transplant that enables him to live a more normal and enjoyable life. Transplants are lifesaving, but they are very expensive. Now Carlton needs special help from his community to support him in raising funds to pay for medical expenses including copays for some medical procedures and anti-rejection medications that are not covered by his insurance. Funding the expenses of a transplant that are not covered by insurance is a monumental task. To be responsible, Carlton works five days per week.

He is a very kind and helpful man who for over eight years has helped me to sponsor a neighborhood Easter egg hunt, a Bubble Day, and an event during the Fall for the children on our street. Now, Carlton needs our help. Even with the help that Carlton will probably receive from Medicare and his personal insurance, medical expenses will be more than he or our family can handle alone.
