On October 4, 2020, Lauren Berg, wife, mother, musical theater actor and preschool teacher, suffered a C-3 spinal cord injury resulting from a fall that left her unable to move from the shoulders down. After major surgeries and a 3 1/2 month stay at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Lauren returned to Cincinnati. Thanks to her boundless determination, excellent medical care and the financial and emotional support of family, friends and community Lauren was able to live at home, undergo therapy and make significant progress toward recovery.
On Halloween in 2023, Lauren was again rushed to the hospital and the life threatening series of events that followed caused all her recovery efforts to come to a halt. Since then, Lauren has endured endless hospital stays and major surgeries and invasive medical procedures too numerous to count.
Despite all the setbacks, and thanks to Lauren’s determination and the love and support of her family, friends and community, Lauren is gaining strength and is ready to work her way back to and beyond where she was before this setback. Unfortunately, this recovery has exhausted the family, both emotionally and financially. Lauren now requires round the clock nursing care and a vast amount of in-home equipment.

On Wednesday, October 15 , Jennifer Holliday (the original Effie in Dreamgirls) and Daniel Reichard (the original Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys) will appear in a benefit concert for Lauren.
